10/13/2020 Update: Reopening Plans

Although there have been changes regarding restrictions on businesses serving the public, GOLD is taking a conservative approach to re-opening our branches to walk-in traffic.
Our highest priority remains serving Members while maintaining a safe environment, and our current “by appointment” procedure allows us to meet all of our Members’ needs without creating unnecessary risk.
We have not had any situations where we have not been able to effectively and efficiently conduct business. 
Our COVID response team meets weekly to monitor the situation and current guidance. We continue to make adjustments as needed.

6/25/2020 Update: General Office Branch Reopens Monday, June 29

The General Office branch located at 835 W Hamilton Street in downtown Allentown will reopen on Monday, June 29. We will conduct transactions by appointment only at both branch locations and will schedule times in 15-minute intervals. 

You can make an appointment to visit either branch by calling 484-223-4200. 

When you arrive, call before entering the building. At the Lehigh Division branch (4703 Hamilton Blvd), call 484-223-4235. At the downtown General Office branch (835 W Hamilton St), call 484-223-4230.

Following the safety standards put in place by the CDC, GOLD will require that face masks be worn and social distancing be maintained.

We can't wait to serve you again downtown.

6/19/2020 Update: Reserved Hours for High-Risk Members

As we adapt to this "new normal" we continue to strive for ways to better serve our Members. Your health and safety remain a top priority at GOLD Credit Union! For this reason, in addition to our regular appointment scheduling, we've reserved Tuesday mornings from 8:30 to 10:00 AM exclusively for Members 60+ or who are otherwise high risk. During this time only one Member at a time will be served in the branch to further reduce the risk of exposure.

To set up an appointment for yourself or a loved one during the special time slot or during regular business hours, please call 484-223-4200. When you arrive, call 484-223-4235 before approaching the building and a GOLD staff member will give you instructions on how and when to enter the branch.

All visitors to the branch must wear a face mask to enter in accordance with CDC guidelines. We hope these safety precautions and reserved hours are a help to our most vulnerable Members. Thank you for allowing us to serve you.

Dear Member,

Over the past few months, COVID-19 has disrupted all of our lives and posed challenges to many friends and family. You have been on our minds during this time. Our thoughts go out to you and your loved ones with the hope that you are doing well.

As an essential business, GOLD has continued to serve our Members with adjustments to our daily procedures. We appreciate that each of you were patient and understanding as we worked through the trying times and adapted to the changes, and we, as most of you, are ready to return to some sort of normalcy.

As Lehigh and Northampton counties move from “Red Phase” into “Yellow Phase” we are prepared to welcome our GOLD family to the 4703 Hamilton Blvd branch with modified procedures. We will continue to conduct transactions by appointment only and will schedule times in 15 minute intervals. The downtown Hamilton Street branch will remain closed at this time. We continue to evaluate the situation and will make a decision to reopen the branch when appropriate.

Following the safety standards put in place by the CDC, GOLD will require that face masks be worn and social distancing be maintained. We ask that you adhere to the instructions below when visiting the branch:

  1. When you can, please call 484-223-4235 in advance to set up an appointment for your transaction in the branch.
  1. If you are not able to schedule an appointment in advance, please pull into a designated parking space and call 484-223-4235 before approaching the building. A GOLD staff member will give you instructions on how and when to enter the branch.

Upon entering the lobby, you will see that things have slightly changed. There are protective shields at teller stations and desks, social distancing reminders on the floor, and a limit on the number of Members in the building at one time.

As we have throughout the pandemic, GOLD continues to be your trusted partner and committed to your financial needs. We are looking forward to the day when we can welcome you back into both of our branches and will continue to keep you updated as the Lehigh Valley moves toward “Green.”

Limiting in-person social interaction is the key to reducing potential spread of COVID-19. We encourage you to rely on our digital and technology services for your basic banking needs until the threat of the coronavirus has passed:

  • Online Banking- You can use online banking to review your accounts, transfer funds, and make payments. If you are not signed up for an online account click here.
  • Mobile Banking - Members can bank from their mobile device by downloading the GOLD App. The app allows you to do remote check deposit so you can keep funds going into your account. 
  • Loan Applications - You can complete loan applications online or talk to a loan officer and get questions answered over the phone at 484-223-4216.

Protecting Yourself From Scams and Risks

In times like these, a natural reaction may be to withdraw your cash in fear that you won’t be able to access your money. We cannot emphasize enough how dangerous it is to withdraw large amounts of cash to store in your home or elsewhere. The safest way for you to protect yourself and your money is to leave it securely deposited at your credit union, where your funds are federally insured.

Scam artists take advantage of times like these to gain access to bank accounts. Protect yourself by being aware of suspicious emails and text messages. Keep your eyes open for medical supply scams, fraudulent donation sites, or anything else that seems fishy. If it seems like it could be fraud, it probably is, so listen to your gut and don’t provide your personal identification (usernames, passwords, Social Security number, etc.) unless you are dealing with a organization whom you have made the initial contact. Do not click on links or download attachments from unknown email senders, and do not make purchases or donations on any unknown sites.
