How USPS Mail Delays are Impacting GOLD

On October 1, the United States Postal Service announced changes to the First-Class Mail and Periodicals service standards. The three-day delivery standard for First-Class Mail has increased to up to a five-day delivery anywhere within the U.S. We wanted to make you aware of this change by letting you know that your mail sent to and from GOLD Credit Union through the USPS may be delayed.

How could USPS mail delays affect you?

As a result of this major change, it's possible that this may have a significant impact on you and cause the following items to be delayed: letters, bills, statements, and tax documents from GOLD. Similarly, check deposits and loan payments mailed to us directly may also be delayed.

We process the mail you send us on the same day it's received, crediting deposits and payments the same day as well. However, in light of the postal service change, and especially with the holidays right around the corner, it may take longer than usual for us to receive your mail. Therefore, your deposits and payments are posting later than you expected.

How GOLD can help

We want to help alleviate any inconvenience the mail delays may cause. The fastest way to deposit money or make a payment to your GOLD accounts is through GOLD Online Banking and the GOLD App, which are available to you to use 24/7. They offer a faster, more convenient way to make loan payments, transfer funds, monitor account activity and balances, pay your bills, and make mobile deposits1. Don't have an online account? No problem! Sign up for GOLD Online Banking today.

Deposit Money
Deposit checks on the go or from the comfort of your own home. Simply download the GOLD App (Apple or Android) to deposit checks with your smartphone camera. We process remote deposits within one business day.

Make Loan Payments
Making loan payments in GOLD Online Banking is fast and easy. View your due dates and amount due in your Account Listing, then schedule a transfer to make your next payment from your GOLD Checking or Savings Account.

Some of our Members mail in loan payments with a check from another financial institution, rather than paying from their GOLD accounts. You can make that work digitally, too! Rather than writing your check to GOLD, just make it out to yourself and use the GOLD App to deposit the money into your account at GOLD. Once the check has cleared, you can use Online Banking to make your loan payment with the funds now available in your account.

Enroll in eStatements
We also recommend enrolling in eStatements. Receiving paperless statements helps reduce the risk of lost, stolen, or late mail. With eStatements, you'll receive secure email notifications when your financial documents are ready to view giving you expedited access to your statements and tax documents. Plus, when you make the switch from paper statements to eStatements during December 2021, we'll reward your proactive choice with a $10 bonus!2 Sign up for eStatements in a few quick clicks. Log into your GOLD Online Banking account, click the "eStatements" tab at the top, and follow the instructions shown on your screen to enroll.
