GOLD Credit Union offers savings and checking accounts specifically for children under 12, teens and young adults. We've designed these accounts with your children in mind, giving them increasing options over time, all while earning dividends.

Minor Account

A minor account, available to members 0-11 years old, is a savings account that prepares your child for their financial future. Minor accounts require a joint owner.

Account Requirements 

All names on a Minor Account must be eligible for membership at GOLD Credit Union. The funds belong to all names listed on the account and are accessible to all account owners.

When opening a Minor Account, the minor and adult joint owner should be prepared with the following:

  • Required Pledge Amount: $5 per name listed on the account
  • Required Documents (Minor): Birth certificate, passport, Social Security Card, or school ID
  • Required Documents (Joint Owners): Photo ID

Parent Managed (PAUTMA)

PAUTMA accounts are savings accounts that are owned by a member under the age of 21, but managed by a custodian. While the custodian is generally a parent, it does not have to be.  

Account Requirements 

All names on a PAUTMA Account must be eligible for membership at GOLD Credit Union. The funds belong to the minor but may only be accessed by the custodian*. When the minor turns 21 years old, the custodian must close the account and relinquish the funds to the minor. 

When opening a PAUTMA Account, the minor and custodian should be prepared with the following:

  • Required Pledge Amount: $5 per name listed on the account
  • Required Documents (Minor): Birth certificate, passport or school ID and Social Security card
  • Required Documents (Custodian): Photo ID

GOLDen Future Account

Our GOLDen Future Account is a perfect option for parents who want to help their teens and young adults become financially aware.

Meant for ages 12 - 26, a GOLDen Future accounts grows with your child. You can add a GOLD Checking accountGOLD Credit Card, and even loans to this account. From depositing their first paycheck to using their GOLD Debit Card for the first time, these account holders will practice putting their financial savviness to work again and again. (Requires a joint owner.)
